1. By far the simplest is to take one of the domestic airlines (Maya Island or Tropic Air) from BZE to Placencia. Once you clear customs in the international airport, continue in the airport to one of the ticket counters. They are just around the corner on your left just prior to exiting the terminal. A one-way ticket is about 85 US. Both airlines depart hourly and get to Placencia in about 40 min. It’s usually a beautiful flight - mountains on the right and islands on the left. When you arrive in Placencia, taxis are available to take you to the lodge - 5 min and 6 US.
2. Take a taxi from BZE to the downtown Belize City bus stop - 25 US. Board a bus to Belmopan and then to Independence. Cost is probably less than 10 US. Note that your bus will likely be a retired school bus from the U.S. When you arrive in Independence walk or take a taxi a few hundred yards to the water taxi that will take you to Placencia - 10 min and 5? US. Note that the last water taxi leaves just before dark and you probably don’t want to spend the night in Independence. Although the water taxi goes right by the lodge, you will probably have to take a taxi from the boat dock to the lodge. This method of transportation is a great experience if you are adventurous and want to experience local culture.
3. Rent a car at BZE. Currently, paving of the last 15 miles is not complete!
